Trying to Keep My Relationships as Strong as My Coffee
A little love, a little effort, and a lot of laughs — here’s how we make it work.
As I look ahead to this year, one of my main focuses is creating intentional relationships, both with my husband and my friends. Life gets busy — parenting, business, family dynamics — but keeping meaningful connections is something I actively prioritize. Here’s how I approach it:
In my marriage, we’ve found that communication and trust are the foundation. It’s about constantly being in each other's corner, sharing the highs and lows, and supporting one another in growth. We use a shared calendar (seriously, it’s a game-changer) to balance family and business, and we make time for dates — even if it's running errands together to catch up.
A big part of it is showing up for each other when life gets overwhelming. As Brene Brown said, relationships are on a scale of 100, and you meet your partner where they’re at. Some days I’m at a 20, and he’s at an 80, but we always make it work.
For me, meaningful friendships are built on connection, trust, and support — even when things get tough. As a busy working mom, I make an effort to keep in touch by sharing memes or checking in with friends. I think about friendships like a plant — you don’t need to water it every day, but you can’t neglect it either. The occasional text, quick call, or sending a funny reel makes a world of difference.
In 2025, I’m continuing to focus on aligning my relationships and community with my values, mission, and vision. The goal isn’t perfection, but growth — in both my marriage and friendships.
What about you? How are you planning to nurture your relationships this year?
